This year LA1K decided to try to beat our best result to date in the CQWW RTTY contest. Hot on the heels from Field Day we felt we had not gotten to send as much RTTY as we wanted. So this was our chance!

We think we might have beat our own record for the most distinct operators (outside of Field Day), over 30! But most importantly, we tried to get as many of our new members as possible to get at least one QSO. A total of 14 unlicensed operators have gotten at least one QSO! And all together they have sent 507 of our 1980 total QSOs. That is a whopping 25%! Something we are very pleased with and hope will foster an even better contest-culture in our club!

As we have done previously we put up a 15 m antenna for this contest. If you want to read more about this you can read out blog post from WPX RTTY.

To make the contest even more fun we printed maps to mark which CQ-zones and countries we made contact with. It was very fun to mark off the countries we talked to and really see how far we can reach.

When we go all in for a contest we usually have contest-cake. This weekend we had three! So we were lucky to be well fed all weekend! Thanks to LB2RH, Lena and Sven!

As for the results, we have a personal best …

… beating our previous best from 2012 by 593 QSOs!
